This past weekend was busier than normal. With the 4th of July, came a few extra series races at local tracks we don't visit all too often for Chris and the 5H.
They always say one little mistake can put you behind and man did that hold true on the first night of the weekend. Thursday June 30th at Canandaigua Motorsports Park was Chris's 2nd Super DIRTcar series race of the season. After a minor mistake in the heat, Chris went on to dominate the last chance qualifier earning a 21st starting spot in the main event. Unfortunately starting that deep proved to be costly when an early mistake by another car lead to an unavoidable wreck for the 5H machine, which took him out of the race.
Regrouping in time to make it to his Friday night home at the Brewerton Speedway the night proved to be challenging for all drivers. Track conditions proved difficult for not only Chris and the 5H but all running in the top 5 in season points as they finished amongst each other, nearly all outside of the top 10 with Chris coming in 13th.
Saturday night both Hile Motorsports cars hit the track at the Fulton Speedway. Chris would drive up through the field finishing in a strong 5th place after starting deep, where Katelyn and the 25H would hold on to 15th.
The last and final stop of the weekend would be the Super DIRTcar Series Race at the Utica Rome Speedway on Sunday July 3rd. This again would be a show for only the Hile Motorsports 5H. Again track conditions proved treacherous and passing was at a premium, but Chris was able to overcome tough track conditions and still drive up to finish a strong 13th in the 100 lap feature event.
After a long weekend and late nights we can both honestly say we are looking forward to our normal weekend routine coming up! Long weekends are always fun until it's time to go back to work...
